Selectmen's Minutes May 7, 1996
                Selectmen's Meeting - May 7, 1996

Selectmen Attending: Judith Murdoch, James Haggerty, Chair; Peter
Jones, and Catherine Kuchinski, Clerk.  Also: Joseph Nugent,
Board of Selectmen's Executive Secretary.  Charles Flynn arrived
7:37pm.

I. Opening: Haggerty opened the meeting at 7:35pm.

II. Common Victualer's License Request: David J. Hatch requesting a license for SEAFOOD CONNECTION located at 270 and 278 Main Street with Manager listed as David J. Hatch, Jr.  Motion 5/7/96.1: move to issue Common Victualer's license for Seafood Connection as requested.  Motion made by Kuchinski with second by Jones.  Motion carried 5-0.

III. Designation of May 19 - 24 as Hanson's Senior Citizen Week.
Angela Erben forwarded this request to the Board of Selectmen and
offered a memo of activities to which all Selectmen are invited
for this week. Motion 5/7/96.2: move to designate May 19 -24 as
Hanson's Senior Citizen Week.  Motion made by Kuchinski with
second by Murdoch.  Motion carried 5-0.

IV. Executive Secretary's Report: (1) Grievance - Police
Department: hearing to be held at 7:30pm on May 14th due to time
constraints. Kuchinski noted she would not be attending and that
minutes would be necessary.  Meeting to be posted for this item
only.    (2) Town Meeting article regarding Road Committee:
volunteers coming forth to serve on the committee.  Selectmen
desire representation from Selectmen, Drainage, Highway Surveyor,
Planning Board and 3-4 citizens at large.  Anyone interested
should submit application prior to the May 21st meeting of the
Board of Selectmen.   Motion 5/7/96.3: move to constitute the
Road Committee from the discussed recommendations with set
appointments to be made at the May 21st meeting.  Motion made by
Murdoch with second by Flynn.  Motion carried 5-0.  (3) MMA
Selectmen Meeting - scheduled for Friday, June 14 1-4pm in
Wayland.

V. Announcements: Town Elections on May 18, 1996 from 10am - 7pm
please vote for the officials and ballot questions.

VI. Action Request:  Kuchinski requested Nugent to find out about
the Route 58 liability potential for the cross-walk matter so
this issue can be addressed asap.

IX. Adjournment. Motion 5/7/96.4:  move to adjourn.  Motion by
Murdoch with second by Flynn.  Motion carried 5-0. Adjourned at
7:52pm.
